LO1 Task 1: Audio visual promos

Cadbury "Gorilla" Advert
In no way does this advert relate to chocolate and the cadbury's theme, but is used in a clever way to promote the product by how much attention it would get from media. The only reason we know its cadbury's chocolate is because of the iconic purple background which relates to the color brand and it tells us before and after the eye catching part of the advert "Gorilla playing the drums".

Misfits T.V series Commercial
A T.V series commercials is a great way for a channel to promote a show being showed on there program. The advertisements can be short of long depending on how long they want the advert to last, this can be based on the popularity of the show, here is an example.

Channel 4 Idents
An ident is a type of promotional clip that helps a T.V channel or program to advertise, for example the channel 4 ident that lasts a few seconds before a show on the channel starts. A great example of this are the popular channel 4 indents where the camera is constantly moving until it reaches the correct position to aline all the shapes to create the number 4.

Gorillaz Music video
a music video is simply a video to go along with a specific song by a band or a artist. The video its self usually has connections to the song like for example the story but it doesn't necessarily have to have any connections apart from being recognized as the video related to that song. the video could be live footage, animated, CGI, studio footage and more.

Sting
The purpose of a sting is to primarily catch the viewers attention with a piece of music. It is used to show what channel your viewing and reinforces that its a channel 4 television show that they made, it also goes along side the T.V commercial idents.

5 Trailer analysis

The amazing Spider man 2: The purpose of the trailer is to create awareness of the spider man brand especially after the success of the first film of the amazing spider man franchise compared to the original spider man that was rebutted. As well as this the film trailer also generates excitement for the new film releasing snippets of information but not two much which generates a even bigger fan base and gains more popularity for the actors in the movie. The trailer being a small section of a giant million dollar Hollywood blockbuster movie as been released almost everywhere so anyone can see it from the internet to the t.v and longer more in detailed trailers in the cinema to make the chances higher of you seeing the trailer then buying tickets to watch the film. The form of the product is that of a film trailer for the amazing spider man 2 is clever in the way they have used scenes and cuts from all different sections of the film to give us as the viewers a understanding of what the story is in the second installment, but still leaves us wanting more even though it looks and sounds like they have given us a lot of information. For content, the trailer we see a lot of location cuts throughout New York City as well as lots of CG I and special effects especially towards the end of the trailer where we see a web effect (because of spider man) showing us the actors names and directors. The films narrative and meaning is very typical action super hero film being fast passed and having lots of fighting scenes and explosions like you would see in a stereotypical hero film with a face and a heal. The genre of the film is defiantly action based as theirs hardly a dull moment, always creating suspense to build up to a awesome fight scene and using a lot of special affects to make the stereotype more obvious. The audience of the film is defiantly Marvel and fantasy superhero fans that are into things like comic con and comic books or just young fans that have an interest in all things superhero.

Riddik (2013):  The purpose of the trailer for riddik is to advertise the film that was released in 2013 following the success of Pitch black and the chronicles of Riddik this is the last installment of the series.  Even though the film has quite a large franchise and fan base as well as a decent budget the film has actresses and actors apart from Vin diesel that are not as well known so this film is created to make them more aware as well. The advertisement is in the form of a trailer and is made this way to create awareness for the brand, the film, the directors/producers and the actors and actresses all involved in the creative process. As the film is quite a big deal with a decent budget the film was advertised in all ways in media (Radio, T.V, Internet, magazines etc). The trailer content, consists of quite long takes for a action film relies on the script and better acting performances between characters instead of constant explosions, CG I and especial effects to catch the viewers attention. From the meaning narrative of the trailer we are all ways left wanting more as there is continuous cliff hangers and tension build up moments that we only get a small glimpse of, we know this because of the mid and close up shots as well as the fast pace music and any dialog between characters that suddenly stops which creates that tension. The genre of the film is action/Science fiction and we know this because of the action scenes and the spacey location set on a distant planet, in the film the action scenes are set to a specific time that makes sense to the story unlike any "Superhero" film that try's to add as much action and explosions as possible to live up to that stereotype. The audience of this Film/trailer are a mixture between science fiction fans and action adventure fans which can relate to a target of all ages depending on what rating of film it is.

The Losers: The purpose of the losers trailer is to create awareness for the team and the film e.g the actors and actresses the editors the film itself and the directors and producers which also may get popularity through references to there old films as well. The advertisement is in the form of a trailer being advertised mainly on the internet and in the cinema as a theatrical trailer as the film wasn't as big as giant blockbusters that have large 200 million dollar budgets, even though the film had respected and well known actors, actresses to boost the films views. The film uses a lot of action content in the trailer so the advertisement is quite fast paced often showing quick scenes throughout the film which keep constantly reminding us that it is a action film (Explosions and shootouts)the film also gives us regular snippets of the humors content between characters which also informs us as the viewers that there is just as much humor as there is action. From the meaning of the narrative and editing we only really find out that its action/humor related which is obvious from the dialog and the special effects but we also get a lot of mid, long and establishing shots to show us different exotic areas and locations as the team in the film are constantly on the move which also relates to the narrative. The genre of the film is definitely action/comedy and we can tell this straight away from the first couple of cuts in the trailer, even though there is comedy there is only one character that we see from the trailer that is intentionally personalized and created around the silly comedic stereotype with other characters giving comedic elements that to them may not be intentional. The target audience for this film could be anyone from the age of 12 because even though there is violence and blood, its not as gory and as real looking as intended by other genres targeting a higher aged grouped audience but also the trailer doesn't contain much strong language so the age limit is quite flexible to a point.

The Chernobyl Diaries: The purpose of the trailer is to sell the film being advertised also creating awareness for the teams and companies being involved in creating the film and the trailer like Alcon Entertainment, film nation entertainment and Warner Bros, as well as the actresses and actors involved. The trailer is in the form of a Horror film being advertised and was released first in the USA and in Russia as a Theatrical trailer to promote the film being advertised. The trailer advertising the film consisted of quite large takes and only using a small amount of fast cuts at the beginning of the trailer, for this kind of film being a horror its quite different and you usually see really fast cuts that take up most of the time in the trailer as there is always something going off to catch your attention and because its a horror film the intention is to scare you which often means in a trailer using fast cuts to give us as the viewers as much information as possible to make us want to watch the movie. From the meaning of the narrative of the trailer its quite easy to understand the location of the film being set in Chernobyl as well as the whole idea and theme being revolved around Chernobyl and the nuclear disaster which in its self not being inhabitable for over 25 years it gives a good understanding of what happened and what it currently looks like, using lots of location and establishing shots which all relate to the story and the narrative. The genre of the film is Horror/Documentary and we can tell because throughout the start and the middle of the film we look back and see footage of what we believe to be the characters own footage from pictures to videos, and we can tell from the location and the constant jump scares and audio music that's its intended to scare you and make you jump. The target audience for this film is a 16+ and we can tell this from the strong language the violence and the blood and jump scares that the trailer creates.

Finding Nemo: The purpose of the trailer is to create awareness for the company and the pixar brand and especially the editors and animators as the film is animated it creates more awareness for the animates who do all the work compared to the actors and actresses who usually have to act and are constantly on screen. The advertisement is in the form of a trailer and was released in America with a theatrical trailer before going world wide. The trailer consists of a range of long and short cuts to skip to different content in the trailer but also leaving it long enough to add a joke, purposely to make us laugh as the film is a PG and is aimed at a younger audience just as much as it is aimed at a older one. From the meaning of the trailer we don't really get much understanding of the story line apart from a feel of adventure as the two main characters in the trailer are always in a different locations and because of the film being animated and set in the ocean its hard to understand establishing shots as most of the time we don't know where the characters are, but apart from this there are many cuts scenes of humor related content between characters. The genre of the film is PG, animation/ comedy that can be related to all audiences at generally the film is family orientated. The target audience is all ages as it can relate to any one at any age but especially children as it possibly relates to them more just because its set in a friendly environment and there isn't any signs of strong language and violence.
